A Target Missed

Sometimes it is expensive to be liberal and trendy.  After the Obama Administration announced its bathroom edict, ordering government schools all over America to allow students to go to the restroom and locker room of their choice, big box retailer Target decided to jump on the bandwagon and be liberal, hip and trendy.

So Target announced a new policy concerning their restrooms and changing rooms.  Customers, voyeurs, and perverts of all kinds could now go to the restroom or changing room of their present sexual identity, regardless of their physical attributes or even their genetic identity.  Further, their sexual identity could be long standing or spur of the moment.

I would like to have been in the Target boardroom when that policy was voted in to hear the executives gleefully congratulate themselves over their inclusiveness, modern thinking and broad-mindedness.  How happy they must have been to foist this addle-pated idea on their customers.

Then the duck-poo hit the fan.  Customers were livid and many voted with their feet on the new policy.  Some conservative organizations threatened to boycott if the policy was not changed back to the original, sensible policy.  However, Target could not go back, because their looney liberal customers threatened to leave them and the gay-lobby pressured them to stay the course.

Stuck between a conservative rock and a liberal hard place, Target has been forced to take a third way.  At the expense of 20-million dollars the store chain will add single stall restrooms so that customers can avoid the perverts, while the perverts choose whichever restroom suits them at the moment.

Why is Target taking this third way?  Not because of the uproar their transgender policy caused, according to spokesperson Katie Boylan, who said, “The impact to the business is not material at this time.”  Horse hockey!  It is precisely the impact to their business that worries them, and that should have worried them before they decided to be pander to the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, tran-gendered, Martian lobby and turn off their normal customers.  And if I were a stock holder in Target, I would be mad as a wet hen over the 20-million dollars the company is spending to get out of the mess the leadership of the company made.

As for me, I have my own policy.  While I am not a violent man by nature, if any man follows Mrs. Gunn into a ladies room, I will follow him – and he might not walk out.
