DEEDS, NOT WORDS * *Personal motto of George Washington The first people to come to the shores of a very distant land we now call America, came for a variety of reasons. Principal among those was a desire for religious freedom. To worship as each individual saw fit. The great majority were Christians of one persuasion or another. The words of the bible and their meaning were a driving force in their lives. This belief in a supreme being as the sole source of mans rights was expressed openly and directly in the first few sentences of the Declaration of Independence. “We hold these truths to be self evident”....”All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” These views directly affected the vision our Founders brought with them to Philadelphia in 1787 to try to form a new government to replace the Articles of Confederation.
Like many I have been ignorant of how central religion was, and the key role it played with the Founders and the government they gave us. Here is a link to a presentation detailing the strong influence religion had in the lives of our founders and its central role in our government and our Constitution. www.SecuringTheDream.com.
So, where are we now? What place have we found ourselves? We have found ourselves in a countervailing vision of what our Founders thought our government should be. A vision called progressivism, a vision in which government, not God is the giver of all. America have been increasingly absorbed into this vision since the early 1900's.
Now I ask you to think of the personal motto of George Washington. “Deeds Not Words”. Ask yourself what Deeds are you going to do to affect the restoration of the America we all want? 1. Do you know the name and phone number of your chapter leader? If not why not? 2. When will you be attending your chapters next meeting or event? 3. What is the plan to affect the November 2nd election? 4. What are your plans for your personal education of our countries real history and constitution. 5. What will your Deeds and not your Words be?
