Activists announce American Spring march on Washington

Watch out Washington - the peasants are sharpening their pitchforks and preparing to storm the palace gates. And if organizers have their way, millions of angry Americans will surround the White House and Capitol Building on May 16, 2014. Not stopping there, an ever-changing group of over one million Americans is hoped to dig in and lay siege to the US federal government until President Obama, Vice President Biden, Attorney General Holder and the half dozen House and Senate leaders all step down from power and new elections are announced.

The American Crisis - part deux

If there are two individuals whose visions were used to create America and her uniquely populist government, and who personally shaped and defined every aspect of what America is, it’s Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. One northerner, one southerner. One rich, one not rich. One quiet, one loud. One a Federalist, one a Democratic-Republican. As different as they were, they voiced the same warning to future generations of their fellow Americans.

In 1798, founding father and US President John Adams gave a speech in which he touched upon the largest threat the United States would face in the future - greed and corruption from within. “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion,” Adams told the assembled crowd of soldiers and military veterans, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

In other words, the United States of America is basically a self-policing nation. Our democracy is dependent on the honor system. To insure eternal freedom and liberty, tyrannical and iron-fisted tactics by power-hungry political despots to retain power was outlawed. Instead, justice, truth, selflessness, righteousness and honor would be the only weapons the American people would have to fend off tyranny, corruption and the resulting despair and misery.

Many will say Adams’ statement is about religion, but only in so far as religions – all religions – have been mankind’s best guide to peace and happiness. Religion isn’t a required ingredient in the recipe that makes America. But something that upholds honesty and justice in government most definitely is. In today’s America, with the ‘Me Generation’ and greedy multi-national corporations fully in control, those righteous qualities and requirements have vanished from our government and our ruling political parties. And without them, our democratic-republic is vanishing too.

Operation American Spring

Last July, free speech and 2nd Amendment advocate Adam Kokesh organized a peaceful, armed march on Washington DC. For his efforts, the host of the popular show ‘Adam vs. The Man’ was arrested by federal agents in the weeks prior to the march for participating in a ‘legalize marijuana’ rally. In the hours after the march and protest in the nation’s capitol, federal agents once again arrested Kokesh, this time smashing in the door of his home with a battering ram and detonating an explosive device to temporarily paralyze everyone present. The reason we mention that is to remind readers how much the US federal government doesn’t like anyone who attempts to lead large-scale protests against its rule. And that’s exactly what Operation American Spring is.

“After five years of the Obama Administration's fraud, abuse, corruption, betrayal, deception, and in your face lies, We the People have concluded that enough is enough,” Col. Harry Riley (Ret.) says in his group’s call to action, “In short, we have had it with politicians who are hell bent on destroying America! All efforts to gain the attention of the elected leadership in Washington, DC with our messages have failed. Not because politicians were not informed - the truth is they are cowardly, incompetent, regard their constituents as ‘pests’, ignore the people they are sworn to serve, all in favor of their own self-serving personal, greedy agendas. It shall stop.”

Riley’s grassroots organization, Patriots for America, is leading the organized effort to march on Washington on May 16. Using a clever analogy, the US military veteran and advocate for fellow veterans says that if Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Cantor, Boehner, Pelosi, Holder and the rest of Washington’s leadership won’t come to America’s Town Hall meeting, they’ll bring 10,000 Town Hall meetings to the steps of the White House and Congress.

Riley explains, “Therefore, We the People intend to assemble as a 10 million or more Town Hall body of patriots to visit Washington, DC beginning May 16, 2014, ending date undetermined, to submit demands and grievances for the removal of key criminal and despotic leadership beginning with Barack Obama through senior leadership in the United Stated States Congress.”

Protest or rebellion

Whether Operation American Spring is a protest march or the opening act of an organized rebellion, we’ll let readers decide. The campaign organizers describe it this way, “Operation American Spring will be a massive/gigantic patriot ‘movement to action’ from across America to Restore our Constitutional government, rule of law, freedom, liberty ‘of the people, by the people, for the people’ from the current despotic and tyrannical federal leadership . This movement embraces every American who loves freedom and liberty, with special recognition for parents, warriors and civilians selfless sacrifices, never to be forgotten, nor trivialized, by the present corrupt, self-serving, political leadership who regard their oath as a pro forma exercise to gain power and get their noses in the trough.”

If there’s one aspect of Operation American Spring that is sure to turn off a large number of otherwise exuberant supporters and participants, it’s the organizers’ undeniable affection for the Republican Party - the same party that suspended the US Constitution to begin with in 2001. And the same party that gave America half of its current corrupt leadership, a fact not denied by the very same protest organizers.

Retired Col. Harry Riley, Operation American Spring’s main organizer, explains what will happen once the above half dozen Washington officials resign or are removed from power. “The senior republican in the US House of Representatives will become Speaker of the House and the US House of Representatives will elect a temporary President and Vice President of the United States,” Riley dictates, “The US Senate will take action to elect a new majority and minority leader. As required, the US Congress will execute appropriate legislation to convene new elections or US States will appoint replacements for positions vacated consistent with established constitutional requirements.”

Riley doesn’t say if a the senior Democrat would be put in charge of the US federal government should the Democrats win four months later in November and take control of the House, as required by the US Constitution. Instead, the group specifically appoints the ‘senior republican’. That’s not a very reassuring image for the 75% of the American people who aren’t Republicans and actually despise the party for 30-plus years of selling out the country to millionaires and multi-national corporations.

Republican Party Criminal Tribunals

While the cause and efforts are noble, the group’s description of the third phase of their American Spring endeavor is possibly the most fearful, at least for those of us who aren’t card carrying members of their party. The campaign’s announcement describes a Republican Party criminal tribunal convened to investigate and recommend criminal charges for Obama, Biden, McConnell and the rest.

“Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, will comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new US Attorney General appointed by the new President,” the organizers’ call to action explains.

While the need to march on Washington to demand an end to tyrannical, unjust and corrupt rule is most definitely needed these days, an organized siege by millions of Americans with the express intent to remove the nation’s elected leadership borders on sedition. And while we’re big fans of sedition here at Whiteout Press, we can only quote Mel Gibson in the movie The Patriot - a film we’re sure the organizers of Operation American Spring are familiar with - when we ask, “Why would we trade one tyrant one thousand miles away for one thousand tyrants one mile away?”
