When a Win Isn’t a Win

Feb. 21, 2016                                                                                                                                                                            by Dave Gunn

Socialist Democrat (is that a redundancy?) Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire Primary in a landslide.  However, when the convention delegates were apportioned out, loser Hilary Clinton received just as many delegates as Bernie Sanders.

How could this be?  The Democrat Super Delegates, who are not at all bound by the vote of the Democrat primary voters, lined up behind Clinton.  So a 15-9 delegate victory for Sanders quickly became a 15-15 tie.

Who are the Democrat Super Delegates?  They are the hand-picked party establishment delegates whose job it is to prevent an undesirable like Bernie Sanders from winning the party’s nomination for president.  They comprise about 30% of the total convention delegates, so it would be nearly impossible for any candidate to win without them.

In 2008, when the triumvirate of Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, and Howard Dean (all of whom detested Hilary Clinton) controlled the Democrat Party apparatus, the Super Delegates lined up behind Barak Obama, propelling the previously unknown Senate back-bencher to the White House.  This time, with Clinton acolyte Debbie Wasserman Schultz in charge of the party, the Super Delegates belong to Hilary.

So the game is rigged.  Sorry, Bernie.  The Democratic Party isn’t so democratic after all.  It isn’t that you are socialist.  It is that you are not their favorite socialist.

Of course, the Democrat Party hasn’t been democratic for a long time.  There are quotas for convention delegates favoring certain minority groups.  For example, there are quotas for female delegates (never mind that there are more women in the United States than men – they are a minority for purposes of the Democrat Party), black delegates, Latino delegates. black-Latino-female delegates, LGBT delegates, and even black-Latino-female-LGBT-Martian delegates.

There are no quotas to insure proper representation by white males.  So if you are a white male in the Democrat Party, you might find yourself on the outside looking in.  If you are a pro-life conservative of any kind (including Martian) you are obviously a racist, a bigot, and a homophobe for whom there is no place in the Party.

You who support Bernie Sanders might as well quit now.  Even if Hilary is indicted (something that is very possible) the Democrat establishment will find another candidate to take her place rather than lose in a Bernie Sanders socialist reverse-landslide.

The truth is that the Democrat Party (much like the Republican Party) is a top-down, centrally controlled machine¸ completely out of touch with middle-class America.  You can “Feel the Bern” all you want.  It is an illusion.
