Making Smoke With the Hope of Making Fire

 

          Democrats in Washington are making a lot of smoke over testimony by Attorney General Jeff Sessions taken out of context.  The testimony was given during Session’s confirmation hearings.

 

         The question from which the Democrats are making smoke was asked in the context of Session’s role as a member of the Trump presidential campaign.  Sessions was asked if he had had communications with Russian officials.  He said he did not.  In other words, Sessions did not communicate with Russian officials as a representative of the Trump Campaign.

 

         However, in his role as a ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, sessions did have contact with many ambassadors and governmental officials from many nations, including Russia.  This was routine, and not at all unusual, illegal or unethical.      By the way, one of Session’s meetings in question was a photo op with a group of ambassadors, of which the Russian ambassador was one. 

 

         Knowing all this, Washington Democrats, with the help of the liberal lap-dog media, are blowing smoke, hoping to kindle a fire.  There have been calls for Sessions to resign, or at least to recues himself from all Justice Department investigations concerning Russia.

 

         Some Republican Rinos are even allowing themselves to be stampeded by the Democrat smoke.  However, Ted Cruz defended Sessions on the MSNBC program, “Morning Joe.”  Unfortunately, almost no one saw it.

 

         Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill, in an effort to make the meetings with Sessions seem unusual, tweeted the following: “I’ve been on the Armed Services Committee for 10 years.  No meeting with Russian Ambassador.  Ever.”  The reason Claire did not have any meetings is that Russian ambassadors do not meet with back-benchers, only important senators.

 

         Now I have a few questions for the smoke-blowers like Claire McCaskill, Space Cadet Nancy Pelosi, Al “the comedian” Franken, and that slip and fall lawyer Chucky Schumer: Did you demand that Eric Holder resign as Attorney General after the “Fast and Furious” gun running operation resulted in the death of one of our border patrol agents?  Did you demand the resignation of Lois Lerner for using the Internal Revenue Service to target conservative groups for political persecution?  Did you demand the resignation of Susan Rice after she lied about the Benghazi attack on five television interview programs?  Did you demand the resignation of then Secretary of State Hilary Clinton for lying about the Benghazi attack which resulted in the deaths of four Americans?  I could go on, but you get the picture.

 

         It seems that Democrats in Washington like to blow smoke at Republicans, while ignoring the fires in their own camp.  Jeff Sessions should stand firm, and all truth-loving Americans should stand with him, including some sissies within his own party.
