Every Child Achieves Act [S. 1177] specific objections

Here is what I sent to our Senators.  Please send your own objections ASAP.  Read through the APP analysis and just use the citations there without citing Eagle Forum or even APP so that it will appear more spontaneous and widespread,  A few well thought out, brief comments sometimes go a long way.

Thanks for checking back in about this with us, Eunie.  As you may know, the Senate is expected to take up S. 1177 this week.  Thus, your information is quite timely, as we watch this one closely.

Dear Senator Shelby,

The American Principles Project (APP) analysis of S. 1177 is illustrative of exactly why President Obama is committed to sign this bill;  S.1177 either codifies into law or does not effectively prohibit the whole federal control of education agenda that he has implemented since he has been in office.  Children’s lives will be controlled from afar through a combination of standards, assessments, curriculum derived to implement the assessments, psychological data used both to indoctrinate and to track into government chosen jobs, and teacher accountability.  Local schools will be penalized if 95% of their students do not take the prescribed assessments written outside of their state.  Academics will forever suffer;  and as Prof. James Milgram said about common core type math, four years will do “irreparable harm”.

Please don’t give this authority to Pres. Obama.

Instead of negotiating with Pres. Obama how best the federal government will control education, Congress needs to start over and insist that the next president return control over their children’s education to the states so that that these former laboratories of democracy can once again enable all students to succeed academically while respecting parental rights and beliefs.  It is commensurate with the progressive centralization of education into the hands of Washington that academic achievement has declined.  This bill will be the final coffin.

Please read the documented 4 page analysis here http://www.americanprinciplesinaction.org/apia-education/every-child-achieves-act-a-wolf-in-sheeps-clothing/.  What APP documents in S.1177 we are already seeing in Alabama due to NCLB waiver mandates.

Please vote NO on S. 1177.

Blessings,

Eunie
